Last class we showed how to look for specific sequences in NCBI using advanced search. This homework aim is to practice this kind of search. For each of the following questions, please describe the advanced query used to answer it, the database used, and the number of results.
For example, if the question is “all keratin proteins in Homo
sapiens” corresponds to the query
keratin[Protein Name] AND "homo sapiens"[Organism] in the
Protein database, and results in 5 answers. Notice that the
answer is different if you instead ask
keratin AND "homo sapiens".
We do not want to see the all the results, only the number of results, the database name, and the query.
All protein sequences with length between 1000 and 1050 amino-acids
All protein sequences with length between 1000 and 1050 amino-acids and in the PDB database
All 16S genes for organisms in Gammaproteobacteria
All papers about Down syndrome
